Benefits of Learning Musical Instruments
There are a lot of benefits of learning musical instruments. It boosts our cognitive function, memory, and focus/attention. For example, playing a piano requires you to do a complex multitasking at once—reading notes, moving your both of your hands and fingers synchronously, and your legs—mengharuskan kita menggunakan dan integrasikan tiga skill: auditory, visual, dan motor skills.
Other than improving cognitive function, it can helps our memory to be stronger. There was a study that showed musicians perform better than non-musicians on memory tasks.
It also increases neuroplasticity that increases gray matter (the central processing unit of brain) in the areas like auditory cortex (in temporal lobe, to process sounds) and hippocampus (for memory).
Also, TIL that listening to classical music could improve spatial-reasoning skill. Spatial reasoning skill is imagining 2D or 3D object and manipulate it in mind abstractly. Another way to improve spatial reasoning skill is to play puzzles. We call this as Mozart Effect.
