Coffee Increases Metabolic Rate

Consuming coffee has been shown to elevate our Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) by 5% to 20% for up to three hours after caffeine ingestion. In a comparative research examining a normal weight and obese people consuming coffee, has demonstrated that it increases metabolic rate on both groups, with a greater fat oxidation observed in normal-weight participants.

The increase of BMR leads to more calories burned that will benefits those who want to lose weight.

Consuming coffee also has a positive effect on exercise. If consumed in doses of 3 to 6 milligrams per kg (mg/kg) for individuals, caffeine intake enhanced exercise performance.

Fun fact: apart from coffee, chewing gum also provides the same benefits as it also contains caffeine.
