Lactose is a natural sugar found in milk and dairy products. It’s the primary carbohydrate for cow (4-5% body weight).
Why some people are lactose intolerant?
In our small intestine, there is an enzyme called lactase. Lactase breaks down lactose to smaller form of sugar: glucose and galactose.
Lactase production decreases as we age, leading to lactose intolerance.

Lactose intolerance is the default state, not a disorder. In history, thousands of years ago, our ancestors didn’t consume milk. Our body are adapting to what we consume.
