Money Oriented People Are Selfish
Money-oriented people, or people who make their decision based on profitability, are likely to have a tendency to be more selfish. Research suggest that wealthy upper class people are more likely to have a selfish focus on their interests. Conversely, another study found that people from lower social class are more likely to have compassion for other people’s suffering.
These individuals believe that effort should match to the financial reward they receive. Time is money, effort is money, anything is money. As a result, they tend to refuse helping others when they believe the return is not worth their investment.
In software engineering, money-oriented individuals are more likely to oppose contributing on open-source projects, but they may consider leveraging such projects for personal profit.
