Retinal and retinol are both retinoids (Vitamin A). Retinal works multiple times faster than retinol because it’s closer to the active form, retinoic acid.
Even though retinal gives faster result, it potentially gives more irritation to the skin.
What is retinoic acid?
It’s a pure and active form of vitamin A. Retinal is one step derivative of retinoic acid. And retinol is two step from active form. Retinol is converted to retinoic acid by your skin.
